The meter reads zero / “ACQUIRING…” never finishes. Check that Motion & Fitness access is allowed in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Motion & Fitness → Seismo. Then rest the phone flat and firmly on the running machine — holding it in your hand or on a soft surface dampens the signal. How do I get a good measurement? Place the phone flat and firm on the machine’s housing, near the motor or bearing — not on a thin panel that flexes. Hold steady for the full Diagnose capture. For trend tracking, measure the same spot the same way each time. Why does the app top out at 50 Hz? iPhone motion sensors sample at roughly 100 Hz, which physically limits analysis to about 0–50 Hz — the band where most rotating-machine faults live (that’s up to 3,000 RPM). Higher-frequency faults are outside what any phone can measure. Are the numbers certified / lab-grade? No — and the app says so plainly. Phone sensors aren’t lab-calibrated, so Seismo is built for relative comparison, dominant-frequency identification, trend tracking, and triage. The methods are industry-standard; the absolute numbers are device-relative. Don’t use it for safety-critical decisions. See the Terms of Use. What do Zones A–D mean? They follow the ISO 10816-1 velocity-severity zones: A smooth, B acceptable, C rough (keep an eye on it), D severe (inspect before failure). You can pick your machine size in Settings → Measurement → Machine size so the limits match your equipment. The in-app Guide explains all of it. How do I export or delete my data? Export: the share button on Records (CSV of all readings), on a reading’s detail page (PDF report), or on the Spectrum screen (CSV). Delete: swipe or long-press a record, or Settings → Data → Delete all readings. Everything is stored only on your device — there is no account and no cloud. Does Seismo collect any data? No. No analytics, no ads, no accounts, no network calls. See the Privacy Policy — the App Store label is “Data Not Collected.”
