Open the Meter tab and allow camera access. Point your iPhone at the scene or surface you want to measure. The dial shows illuminance (lux or foot-candles), exposure value (EV), and color temperature. Tap Save this spot to remember a reading.
Photo shows exposure suggestions and white balance. Plant estimates PPFD and Daily Light Integral (DLI) and tells you whether a spot is low, medium, bright-indirect, or direct light. Room compares the light to recommended levels for reading, kitchens, desks, and more.
Candela meters reflected scene light from the camera, so readings are a well-calibrated estimate rather than a laboratory measurement. For incident-style readings, aim at a neutral 18% grey card or a white diffuser. To match a reference meter, go to Settings → Calibration, point at the same surface, and enter the reference value.
No. The camera is used only as a light sensor — Candela never takes photos, never stores images, and never sends anything off your device. It collects no data and has no accounts. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Go to Settings → Delete all saved spots, or delete the app. Everything is stored only on your device.
Open Candela and save at least one spot; the widget shows your most recent saved reading.
